Inside the gruelling path to success of one of Australia's top breast cancer surgeons - as she details the extraordinary run of tragedies which saw her choose a medical career at just nine.

Chantel Thornton knew she wanted to be a doctor when she was nine years old. She works in Melbourne as a breast cancer surgeon in private and public clinics.

Dr Thornton says being accessible to her clients is the number one priority. She was inspired to be a surgeon after watching her family develop cancer. Three aunts, a cousin and her grandmother all suffered from breast cancer.
