Dr Anh Nguyen

MBBS (Hons), FRACGP
General Practitioner for the Breast Cancer Survivorship Program

Dr Anh Nguyen graduated with Honours from Monash University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. She became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) in 2002.

After starting her general practice career in Melbourne, she worked in the Sydney CBD and then in Harley Street in London for the next 4 years. The clinics that she worked at specialised in women’s health, sexual health, travel medicine, preventative health and skin cancer and these aspects of medicine remain areas of interest for her.

Anh commenced as a regular surgical assistant to Dr Chantel Thornton at the Epworth Richmond Hospital in October 2016. She has extended her special interest in benign and malignant breast disease by consulting at Specialist Breast Cancer Surgery.

Alongside the breast care nurses, Anh will be coordinating the breast cancer survivorship program. This holistic program aims to provide the patients with a comprehensive approach to their physical and psychosocial health post breast cancer. The program incorporates their annual breast imaging at Epworth Medical Imaging, clinical examination and access to the breast care nurses. The survivorship program supports patients after their treatment for breast cancer.

Many patients will have had Anh as their surgical assistant, and she often collaborates on the care arrangements for patients with the multidisciplinary team and the specialist breast cancer surgeons.

The continuity of care is important for the health and wellbeing of cancer patients.

Anh has two daughters and enjoys keeping fit and walking.
